ONSITE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM

The East Bay Agency for Children

The East Bay Agency for Children's comprehensive afterschool program for TK-5th grade provides academic support along with enrichment activities, such as arts & crafts, cooking, gardening, and music to enhance students' social and emotional competency.

The vision of Sequoia Healthy Start is that every student's spark is kindled, nurtured, and encouraged to radiate. The funding from family program fees supports the program's major goal of supporting student success through academic and enrichment activities. We encourage our students to use their voices, build their character, and connect with their communities. The academic component exposes students to a variety of classes and opportunities in order to support their individual interests.

PROGRAM FULL FOR 2024-25 - WAITLIST ONLY

2024-2025 PROGRAM INFORMATION

Our program will begin on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 through Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The Sequoia ASP (after school program) provides care from the end of the school day (regular or minimum) to 6 p.m. on every day the school is open.

Completing an enrollment form does not mean you are enrolled into the program.

  • All families including returning and current waitlisted families MUST complete a 24-25 enrollment form.

  • A separate enrollment form MUST be completed for each child you wish to enroll.

  • There are limited afterschool spots due to space and staffing capacity.

  • If the demand is higher than our current capacity, we will try to hire more staff over the summer so that we can meet the site's demand.  Please note: our TK/K classes in particular have limited spots as we are required to have a 10:1 student to staff ratio compared to our 20:1 ratio for all other grades.

  • Families can sign up for programming by the day (2 day minimum) instead of the full week.  You must commit to the days of the week that you sign up for and get approval to change your schedule.

  • We ask families to pick up their children during our program transition times in order to minimize class disruptions.  The program transition times are at 4pm and 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and 3pm and 5pm on Wednesdays.

  • NEW: We will be offering a limited number of morning care spots.  Morning care will run from 7:00-8:30

  • Please see our priority enrollment process (same at all OUSD schools):

  1. OUSD’s Unduplicated Pupil Percentage (UPP) mandate. UPP is defined by the California Department of Education as students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals (FRPM), English learners (EL), and/or who are foster youth, and unhoused. This is a designation provided by the CA Department of Education and OUSD and not by EBAC.

  2. Returning students who were enrolled in 23-24

  3. Siblings of returning students

  4. Previously waitlisted students in 23-24

  5. Class grouping and daily enrollment balance

  6. Open lottery

Enrollment Process/Timeline:

  • May 8th - Applications released and sent through Parent Square

  • May 22nd - Application deadline (applications completed after this date will be added to the waitlist in the order that they are received)

  • June 3rd - June 7th - Confirmation letters emailed
